"Passive" design helps you maintain the interior temperature of your home at a comfortable temperature by using available resources with little or no mechanical heating and cooling. It's generally cheaper to consider passive design options such as installing insulation, shading windows and draught-proofing before you invest in expensive heating and cooling appliances as passive design elements will reduce the amount of energy needed to keep your home comfortable.
